At this time of year many of us are concerned about the weight we have gained over the festive period. I know that has been something I have to keep an eye on! This isn't easy for many of us.
The key is to gain a good relationship with food. With Hypnotherapy I’ll look at reasons at why you may be making bad decisions with your food choices, maybe you're snacking between meals, missing meals and then overindulging or just eating more than you are burning off. We will seek out any underlying issues and work with those too. Perhaps you are making poor food choices due to lack of time. I can use my coaching skills to guide you to find ways that to manage your time more efficiently and plan ahead.
I’ve noticed how difficult it is to book into classes at the gym since the beginning of January, and its a common fact that new gym-goers will start to dwindle over the next few months. They lack motivation to keep up the good work. Maybe they take on too much to soon? With exercise little is better than nothing. If you can just keep the motivation going then just seeing the improvements in your health and fitness is motivating in itself.
Diets are very hard to maintain and believe me I've tried most of them over the years! To me the term ‘diet’ has a beginning and an end, after a certain amount of time we have to go back to normal eating. Diets are restrictive and we feel a huge guilt if we have ‘sinned’ or had a calorific meal out. I’ve known people to avoid going out when they are on a ‘diet’ as they don't want to fail - where is the fun in that?! We end up resenting the diet and when we do break free we go overboard with our eating and many gain more weight than they have lost in the first place.
Does this sound familiar?
Here are 5 ways in which Hypnotherapy can change your relationship with food:
1. Look at why you are making unhealthy food choices
This could be due to lack of time, an unhappy childhood where someone has made you feel negative about yourself or perhaps pressure from a partner to look a certain way, which can in fact lead to depression. Hypnotherapy can help to uncover damaging psychological issues which are often where the problems begin.
2. Change bad eating habits
Hypnotherapy combined with NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) can be used to switch bad eating habits with better healthier options by embedding positive behaviours in your mind.
3. Support with Exercise
Hypnotherapy can keep us focused on our fitness goals. However big or small our individual goals, they are all relevant to us. Reaching your desired fitness level is so rewarding and motivation is essential. Using positive visualisation I can help reach those goals. We can all learn to love exercise.
I am also a qualified Personal Trainer so I have an understanding of exercise at all levels.
4. Reduce Stress
Hypnotherapy is excellent for helping to reduce stress. Often our healthy eating habits go out of the window when we are under pressure. By controlling your stress levels you are less likely to comfort eat. My sessions are relaxing and you'll leave feeling positive and confident, knowing where you want to go next. As tiredness and boredom can also play havoc with our food choices I can use hypnotherapy to help enhance better sleeping patterns and stop eating for the sake of it.
5. Positive Self Image
We are the biggest critics of ourselves and how we look. Working on your positive self-image and limiting self-beliefs can have huge beneficial effects. Developing your inner strength can get rid of those negative beliefs and empower you to be whoever you desire to be.
For all of you that are struggling, we’ve all been there, I hope this post has given you some hope and inspired you to feel positive about making beneficial changes.
